This 'Fast and Spicy' Pilates Workout Raises Your Heart Rate By Increasing Exercise You Already Know

If you have a short period of time (or motivation), sometimes 10 minutes of exercise is the only thing you can handle. And while it may be short and fun, it still works: There are many benefits to adding 10 minutes of movement to your day. If you need an inspo to get going, look no further. This episode of Trainer of the Month Club features Clara Baini, a physiotherapist and founder of Good Day Pilates, which leads to 10 minutes of cardio Pilates.

The gym starts with squats, which Baini calls "home base" for the next nine minutes — he thinks of this movement as a "grounded version" of the improved squares you will work on. It is therefore very important to make sure that you practice good form. Start with your feet apart at hip-distance and move. "Think really about wrapping your hips and opening your bones when you're on your way down," Baini said. "Then the emphasis is on pressing the feet down as you drive the buttocks back up." From there, the exercise builds strength by adding calf lifts and jumping on squats.

Don't worry, you won't be snowing all the time. The squats turn into a high plank with a toe tap (and then skip both feet out, if you feel it), resulting in a jump of split squares. And that's all in the first six minutes! (Is anyone else tired of just reading about running?)
