The ICMR report states that 60% of Indians are unable to control their diabetes

 


More than 60 percent of Indians are unable to control their diabetes. In India only 1 in 3 diabetics has an acceptable level of blood sugar. In addition, 50 percent of those with high blood sugar have no control over their blood pressure. About 6 out of 10 people with diabetes and cholesterol are unable to control their cholesterol. This is according to a study conducted by ICMR.

More than 60 percent of Indians are unable to control their diabetes. Only 1 in 3 diabetic India has an acceptable level of blood sugar.Moreover, 50 percent of those with high blood pressure with diabetes cannot control their blood pressure. About 6 out of 10 people with diabetes and cholesterol also have difficulty controlling their cholesterol. Currently only 8 percent of Indians infected with all three diseases have managed to control all three of these conditions and that means more than 90 percent of Indians are infected with the disease. in all three cases the disease is at least beyond their control. This is according to a study conducted by ICMR.

This comprehensive study was conducted from October 2008 to December 2020 and included more than 1 lakh people from all over India. The report was published in April 2022 in the Lancet Journal.
